HBOS hit, Phishing scams now touch 18 banks
    
   
  
  
  
  London, UK - 27 October 2003, 18:00 GMT - The identity theft "Phishing" 
    scam has just hit one of the largest UK banks - Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS). 
    On Saturday night (25th October) the online services of the financial institution 
    were made unavailable to its 1.5 million online customers. The services were 
    unavailable on Monday as well. The bogus emails appeared to have originated
