London, UK - 3 April 2003 - It may be comforting to think that the world will be a safer place with the overthrow of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein - but a close study of the asymmetric threats should tell us otherwise. An unintended consequence of this war is likely to be an increased support in some quarters for the global jihad of Osama Bin Laden’s Al Qaeda network. The war on Iraq has inflamed an already growing disaffection in the Arab and Muslim world towards the United States in particular, and the West in general. The writers have detected signs that the Al-Qaeda network is spreading into certain nooks and crannies of the Arab world.
